Hyderabad: Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy on Sunday accused BRS working president KT Rama Rao of making baseless allegations and indulging in a vicious campaign against chief minister A Revanth Reddy and the Congress govt, out of frustration following successive electoral setbacks.Referring to KTR’s allegation that the Congress govt has expanded the prohibited list from 16 lakh acres during the BRS govt tenure to nearly one crore acres now, the MP countered that the total land in Telangana itself is 2.75 crore acres. “Of this, the Congress govt has deposited 9,000 crore Rythu Bharosa amount into the bank accounts of farmers owning 1.50 crore acres. The benefit is extended only if a passbook is available. The forest department has 68 lakh acres of land. KTR should stop making baseless allegations,” Kiran Kumar said.He further alleged that Telangana had been a revenue-surplus state in 2014, but the policies of the previous BRS govt pushed the state into a debt of over 8 lakh crore. He said BRS governance was akin to ‘farmhouse administration’ and that it failed to maintain cordial relations with the Centre, resulting in losses to Telangana. He claimed that the only major project the BRS govt can claim is Kaleshwaram, which he alleged has flaws in construction due to alleged corruption.
