Kolkata: Almost a year after the Supreme Court cleared appointment of permanent VCs for 8 state universities, the higher education dept issued their appointment letters on Thursday.The process was stalled as approval for Diamond Harbour Women’s University and Panchanan Barma University came late from Raj Bhavan. As per the SC order, Ayan Bhattacharya was appointed permanent VC of Sanskrit College and University; Sanchari Roy Mukherjee of Cooch Behar Panchanan Barma University; Nimai Chandra Saha of Harichand Guruchand University in North 24 Parganas; Arunasis Goswami of Baba Saheb Ambedkar Education University; Debabrata Mitra of West Bengal State University; Arnab Sen of Raiganj University and Debabrata Basu of Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya. tnn
