Mysuru: Amid concerns over the looming Cauvery water crisis, the district administration on Wednesday announced that prominent actors and sportspersons will participate in this year’s Dasara procession.Deputy commissioner G Lakshmikanth Reddy, who chaired a meeting with representatives of the Kannada film industry at the zilla panchayat mini hall, said leading film personalities and accomplished sportspersons would be part of the festivities. The initiative, he said, is in line with chief minister DK Shivakumar’s vision of making Dasara celebrations more inclusive and attractive.According to the DC, renowned actors, actresses, film personalities, and distinguished sportspersons will travel in an open-top Ambari bus from the Mysuru Palace premises to KR Circle during the Vijayadashami procession. After reaching KR Circle, they will return to the Palace and watch the procession from the gallery.Jayamala, actor and president of the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce, said a special tableau depicting the 93-year journey and evolution of the Kannada film industry will be featured in the procession. Around 30 leading Kannada actors and actresses are expected to accompany the tableau for nearly a kilometre, greeting the public and fans before proceeding to the Palace gallery to witness the procession.Former Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce president Sa Ra Govindu urged the district administration to organise a felicitation programme for eminent Kannada film personalities during Dasara. He also proposed an exhibition showcasing the history and growth of the Kannada film industry.Rockline Venkatesh, president of the Film Artists Association, requested the district administration to make accommodation arrangements for artistes participating in the Dasara programmes.
