Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday said the Madiga community should utilise the benefits of SC categorisation to become doctors, officers, lawyers, IAS and IPS officers, elected representatives, and partners in the reconstruction of Telangana.Speaking at the Telangana Madiga Employees Coordination Committee programme organised to extend support to the Revanth-led Congress govt for fulfilling the 30-year-long demand for sub-classification of Scheduled Castes (SCs) at Shilpakala Vedika, the chief minister said Telangana is the first state in the country to enact SC categorisation after the Supreme Court judgment in 2025.“I will do everything possible for the uplift and development of the Madiga community. The issues brought to my notice here, including the assigned lands given to the SCs being eyed by successive govts, can be resolved. This govt will fulfil your demands, but the community should firmly stand behind us and protect us from those who oppose your development,” Revanth said.‘Work efficiently’The programme was organised by Telangana Madiga govt employees. Stating that govt employees are the eyes, ears, and brand ambassadors of the govt, Revanth called upon them to work efficiently to strengthen the state economy and meet the growing financial requirements for welfare and development.“The employees’ major responsibility is to curb irregularities and generate more income through efficient collection of taxes and other govt fees. The govt has neither enough land nor sufficient finances due to a huge debt burden. If employees help improve revenues, the govt will reinvest the money in the welfare of the poor and the development of the state,” he said.“Though there was political pressure, I stood by the Madiga community for justice through SC categorisation. Promotions, higher education, lands, and protection of LIDCAP lands can be addressed, but I need the support of the Madiga community against political attacks. We must be alert,” he said.
