Prayagraj: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the official notification for the Stenographer Grade C and D Examination 2026, announcing about 731 vacancies across various departments.The commission has clarified that this number is provisional and may be updated later based on departmental requirements.The online application process began on April 24 and will continue till May 15 up to 11 pm. Candidates will be able to pay the application fee until May 16. A correction window will be available from May 20 to 21.As per the eligibility criteria, candidates must have passed Class 12 from a recognised board. The age limit for Grade C posts is 18 to 30 years, while for Grade D posts it is 18 to 27 years. Relaxation in the upper age limit will be applicable for reserved categories as per govt norms.The selection process will consist of two stages — a Computer-Based Test (CBT) followed by a skill test in stenography. The CBT will include questions from general intelligence, general awareness and the English language, carrying a total of 200 marks. Negative marking of 0.25 marks will be applicable for each incorrect answer.In the skill test, candidates will be required to undertake a 10-minute dictation exercise. For Grade C, the required speed is 100 words per minute, while for Grade D, it is 80 words per minute.The application fee has been set at Rs 100 for general and OBC candidates. However, women candidates, SC/ST applicants, persons with disabilities and ex-servicemen are exempted from paying the fee.The CBT is tentatively scheduled in July-Aug 2026.
