Srinagar, July 20: Srinagar Police has attached 10 immovable properties worth approximately Rs 8 crore belonging to alleged drug peddlers under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, police said in a statement on Monday.
The action has been taken as part of the ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking under the Nasha Mukti Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, police said.
Acting under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, Police Station Nowhatta attached the properties identified as illegally acquired assets allegedly generated through proceeds of narcotics trafficking, police said.
The attached properties include a double-storeyed residential house constructed on 6 marlas of land belonging to Sajad Ahmad Sheikh, son of Bakhtavar Ahmad Sheikh, resident of Zahidpora Sheikh Colony, Hawal, valued at approximately Rs 85 lakh. The property was attached in connection with FIR No. 55/2024 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act, police said.
A double-storeyed residential house on 4 marlas of land belonging to Hajra Begum, wife of Fayaz Ahmad Khan, resident of Tujgari Mohalla, Sheikh Colony, Nowhatta, valued at approximately Rs 55 lakh, was also attached in connection with FIR No. 13/2022 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act, police said.
A four-storeyed residential house on 4 marlas of land belonging to Zahoor Ahmad Sheikh alias Gulloo, son of late Gh Hassan Sheikh, resident of Tujgari Mohalla, Sheikh Colony, Nowhatta, valued at approximately Rs 75 lakh, was attached in connection with FIR Nos. 41/2021, 11/2018 and 06/2013 under the NDPS Act, police said.
A single-storeyed residential house on 4 marlas of land belonging to Fahmeeda alias Famba, wife of late Bilal Ahmad Sheikh, resident of Tujgari Mohalla, Nowhatta, valued at approximately Rs 55 lakh, was attached in connection with FIR No. 32/2019 under Sections 8/20-29 of the NDPS Act, police said.
A double-storeyed residential house on 5 marlas of land belonging to Abdul Ahad Sheikh, son of Dilawar Ahmad Sheikh, resident of Tujgari Mohalla, Nowhatta, valued at approximately Rs 75 lakh, was attached in connection with FIR Nos. 32/2019, 40/2019 and 48/2019 under the NDPS Act, police said.
A three-storeyed residential house on 5 marlas of land belonging to Gh Nabi Sheikh, son of Habib Ullah Sheikh, resident of Sheikh Colony, Tujgari Mohalla, Nowhatta, valued at approximately Rs 90 lakh, was attached in connection with FIR Nos. 57/2020, 46/2005 and 06/2006 under the NDPS Act, police said.
A double-storeyed residential house on 4.5 marlas of land belonging to Altaf Ahmad Sheikh, son of Abdul Hameed Sheikh, resident of Sheikh Colony, Androoni Kathidarwaza, valued at approximately Rs 90 lakh, was attached in connection with FIR No. 57/2025 under Sections 8/20-22-29 of the NDPS Act, police said.
A double-storeyed residential house on 5.5 marlas of land belonging to Hyder Ali Wani, son of Sajad Ahmad Wani, resident of Kathidarwaza, Rainawari, valued at approximately Rs 85 lakh, was attached in connection with FIR No. 57/2025 under Sections 8/20-22-29 of the NDPS Act, police said.
A three-storeyed residential house on 6 marlas of land belonging to Shakeel Ahmad Sheikh, son of Mohammad Sultan Sheikh, resident of Kathidarwaza, Rainawari, valued at approximately Rs 95 lakh, was attached in connection with FIR No. 57/2025 under Sections 8/20-22-29 of the NDPS Act, police said.
A double-storeyed residential house on 7 marlas of land belonging to Manzoor Ahmad Sheikh, son of Ali Mohammad Sheikh, resident of Barthana, Qamarwari, valued at approximately Rs 95 lakh, was attached in connection with FIR No. 52/2019 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act, police said.
The attached properties, with a cumulative estimated value of approximately Rs 8 crore, were identified during the investigation as assets acquired through proceeds generated from illicit narcotics trafficking, police said.
The attachment has been carried out in accordance with the provisions of the NDPS Act to dismantle the financial infrastructure of drug networks and deprive offenders of the benefits derived from the illegal drug trade, police said.
Srinagar Police remains committed to the Nasha Mukti Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan and will continue to take stringent legal action against drug peddlers and others involved in the narcotics ecosystem, police said.
Police said such measures are aimed not only at prosecuting offenders but also at eliminating the economic foundations of the drug trade to ensure a safer, healthier and drug-free society.
The general public has been urged to support the anti-drug campaign by sharing information related to narcotics trafficking with the nearest police station or through the dedicated helpline. The identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential, police said.
