Amravati: The city crime branch has arrested all five accused in connection with a double murder case registered at Walgaon police station, officials said on Monday..The case pertains to the murder of 19-year-old Sanjog Vikas Joshi, a resident of Samata Nagar in Walgaon, and his friend Rutik Pandit of Mahajanpura, Amravati.According to police, the complaint was lodged by Sanjog’s grandmother, 60-year-old Lilabai Anil Tasure. In her complaint, she stated that on the evening of July 19, Sanjog and Rutik were at home when four men — Golu Ugale, Milind Tayade, Sumit Surjuse and Ajay Nagdive — called Sanjog outside. The two youths were later found with stab injuries and were declared dead on arrival at Irwin Hospital.During investigation, police recorded the statement of Sanjog’s friend, Aadesh Balu Ugale, who claimed to have witnessed the attack. He told investigators that around 10.30 pm on July 19, he saw Golu Ugale, Milan Tayade, Sumit Surjuse and Ajay Nagdive repeatedly stabbing Sanjog and Rutik near old bus stand in Walgaon. Police said the assailants attacked both victims with knives before fleeing the spot.Investigators believe the murders were the result of an earlier dispute between the victims and Sudhir Pandurang Ugale and Chandu Janrao Ugale.Based on the FIR, crime branch teams led by PI Dinesh Dahatonde and PI Atul Var launched a manhunt. On July 20, the five accused were traced and arrested near Bhatkuli bus stand while allegedly preparing to flee. Police said all of them confessed to the crime during questioning.The arrested accused have been identified as Vicky alias Golu Vikas Ugale, 21, Walgaon, Milan Gopalrao Tayade, 21, Walgaon, Ajay Diliprao Nagdive, 21, Walgaon, Aniket Vilas Meshram, 25, Walgaon, and Sumit Sudhakar Surjuse, 19, Walgaon.All five have been handed over to Walgaon police for further investigation. The probe is being conducted by PI Postte of Walgaon police station.
