Udaipur: A woman tourist was crushed by a speeding trailer while crossing the road on the Gogunda-Pindwara highway under the Badgaon police station area in Udaipur Monday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Anita Yadav (55), a resident of Meerut in Uttar Pradesh. She was travelling with her daughter and a group.Badgaon SHO Kitab Devi said that the woman had come for darshan of Shrinathji Temple located in Ghasiyar. Other people from the group were getting down from the taxi one by one. Anita also got down from the driver’s side and had walked about seven steps when a trailer hit her and dragged her body. After the accident, the trailer driver stopped for about a minute but later fled from the spot.Upon receiving information, the Badgaon police team reached the spot. The body was removed from the road and kept in the MB Hospital mortuary. A post-mortem was conducted with the consent of family members.Police have registered a case. CCTV footage on the highway was being examined to trace the absconding trailer driver.
