Coimbatore: A relative of state BJP president Nainar Nagendran was killed after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a truck near Madukkarai here on the Salem-Cochin highway on Friday evening.The Madukkarai police identified the deceased as U Roshan, 20, son of Nainar’s cousin. An engineering student at a private college near KG Chavadi, Roshan was staying in a rental room in the same locality, a police officer said. The officer said the incident occurred after the college hours on Friday evening, when Roshan was travelling towards Palakkad on the Salem-Cochin highway on his motorcycle. “He was speeding and lost control over the motorcycle, which crashed into a truck coming from the opposite direction. He was thrown off the two-wheeler in the impact of the collision and sustained severe head injuries. He died on the spot.” Other motorists on the stretch immediately alerted the Madukkarai police, who rushed to the spot, recovered Roshan’s body and sent that to the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital for postmortem. The student’s body was handed over to his family after the autopsy on Saturday. Police have registered a case, and an investigation is under way.
