Jamshedpur: The East Singhbhum administration has formed six teams to inspect restaurants, sweet shops, hotels, food vendors and other food establishments across the district during Durga Puja.The teams, led by food safety officers, were constituted on the directions of deputy commissioner Rajiv Ranjan. Inspections will focus on the quality of food items, hygiene standards, manufacturing and storage conditions, and possible adulteration.“Samples of suspected food products will be collected and sent for laboratory testing,” the DC said. Action will be taken under relevant rules against establishments found selling adulterated or counterfeit products or violating food safety norms.Officials will pay special attention to sweets, khoya, paneer, cooking oil, spices, milk-based products and other items commonly consumed during the festive season.The administration has urged food vendors to use quality ingredients and maintain cleanliness and hygiene at their establishments. It also appealed to residents to check the quality and hygiene of food items before making purchases.People have been asked to report suspected adulteration or other irregularities to the authorities.The inspection teams will begin checking establishments across East Singhbhum from this week. The drive is aimed at ensuring that residents have access to safe and quality food during the festival, while deterring violations of food safety regulations.
