Prompt action by those present prevented it from turning into a serious accident

Dhanbad: A major accident was narrowly averted during the BJP’s Seva Sankalp Yatra at Jagjivan Nagar when a burning ember from a torch fell on Baghmara MLA Shatrughan Mahto’s shirt, briefly setting it ablaze.The incident occurred while Dhanbad MP Dulu Mahato was speaking to the media during the programme. Shatrughan was standing behind the MP when a spark from one of the burning torches landed on his shirt. The fabric immediately caught fire, triggering panic among BJP workers and others present at the venue.Several people nearby rushed to his aid and quickly doused the flames before they could spread. However, the MLA suffered a minor burn on one of his fingers after the ember fell on his hand. His shirt was also damaged.The incident lasted only a few moments but caused considerable alarm, particularly as the MP was standing close to the MLA. Prompt action by those present prevented it from turning into a serious accident.Speaking about the incident, Dulu confirmed that his brother had suffered a minor burn on his hand and that his shirt had caught fire. He, however, played down the incident and said there was no reason for concern.The fire briefly disrupted the proceedings. The event was organised as part of the BJP’s public outreach campaign.
