Jhansi: The anti-corruption team has arrested a sub inspector posted as in-charge of Baragaon Gate police outpost under city Kotwali and a constable while taking a bribe of Rs 10000 inside the police station premises on Tuesday evening while they were on duty in their uniform.As per the details, the victim Sanjiv Rai, a grain merchant, who lives near the police outpost, had approached the anti-corruption department with a complaint that S-I Omkar has been demanding bribe to drop his name from a case related to some alleged fight with another person living in a neighbouring place. Rai said that Omkar had pressurised his children and had already extorted Rs 60,000.Later on, he further demanded more money. As a result, Rai approached the anti-corruption department and lodged a complaint. The team laid a trap after which Rai went to the police outpost on Tuesday evening with Rs 10000.Omkar called him to a separate room and took the money from Rai which was laced with a special chemical and handed over to constable Shashank Tripathi.At the same moment sleuths from the anti-corruption department came in and caught both of them red-handed.As per inspector anti-corruption Jhansi, Shadab Khan, who was leading the trap team, a case has been lodged against both the police officials under related sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act at Sadar Bazar police station. Both the accused will be produced in the court of special magistrate (Anti-Corruption) on Wednesday in Jhansi.
