Times News NetworkKanpur: Food Security and Drug Administration department on Monday raided a pickle factory and found the pickles being prepared by substandard food material in unhygienic conditions.The raiding team collected five samples of different products and destroyed 3060 kgs of pickles.Sanjay Pratap Singh, assistant commissioner (food) informed that a team had raided Srikant Pickle factory situated at Cooper Ganj. The team seized 974 kg of red chilli pickle worth Rs 1.07 lakh, 599 kg of green chilli pickle worth Rs 65,990, 449 kg of mango pickle worth Rs 49,390, 499 kg of mixed pickle worth Rs 62,375 and 539 kg of jack fruit prickle worth Rs 1.07l akh. The total value of the seized prickle was around Rs 3.93 lakh.During inspection of the factory, around 3000 kg of rotten food stuff, including carrot, lemon, mango and cauliflower were also found. The estimated cost of the rotten food stuff was Rs 2.40 lakh.The assistant food commissioner informed that the material seized from the factory was totally unfit for human consumption and would be destroyed.The team has sealed the factory premises. The rotten food material was destroyed on Tuesday. The department would take action against the factory owner after receiving the sample report.
