Shivamogga: A woman attempted to end her life by consuming more than 30 sleeping pills following a domestic dispute, but was rescued in time due to the swift action of Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) 112 police personnel on Monday night. The woman’s village comes under the jurisdiction of Shivamogga Rural police station.On receiving information through an emergency call placed to the 112 helpline reporting that a woman had ingested a large quantity of tablets, the Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) team of Shivamogga Rural police station rushed to the spot without any delay. Head constables Veereshaiah BM of Shivamogga Rural police station and Suresh Naik of DAR Shivamogga arrived at the scene, evaluated the critical situation, realised the urgency for immediate medical attention, and transported the woman ina ERSS vehicle to McGann District Hospital.The woman was admitted and is currently receiving treatment. Cops have not disclosed the identity of the woman.Recognising their presence of mind, sense of duty, and rapid intervention in responding to a public emergency call and saving a precious life, Shivamogga District police department extended its appreciation and congratulations to Veereshaiah and Suresh Naik. The cops advised the public that in times of distress or suicidal thoughts, people should seek support from family, friends, or emergency services instead of facing such situations alone.
