New Delhi: A 58-year-old security guard’s charred body was recovered after a fire allegedly broke out in his room at an MCD primary school in Chanchal Park, in outer Delhi’s Ranhola area, on Tuesday morning. The deceased has been identified as Naresh Kumar, an employee of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and a native of Jhajjar district in Haryana. He was due to retire next year. Ranhola police station and the Delhi Fire Service were alerted about a fire within the school premises around 8.20 am. Two fire tenders, along with around 10 fire personnel, were rushed to the spot. The fire had already been extinguished when they reached the location. Investigators said Kumar’s face was completely burnt and unrecognisable at the scene due to the severity of the fire.DCP (Outer) Sachin Sharma said Kumar would stay in the pump room at the school. “The room had a bed, refrigerator, cooking gas stove, trunk and other household items,” DCP Sharma added. The blaze is suspected to have erupted during the night. CCTV footage from the premises and nearby areas is being examined to determine the exact cause of the fire.
