Vadodara: Panic swept through the Kumbharwada area of the city on Friday morning after a man allegedly fired four rounds after a street altercation. Police detained four suspects linked to the incident.Police said Sufiyan Pathan, a resident of Panjighar Mohalla, allegedly opened fire after a scuffle with Sajid Sheikh. According to Sheikh’s complaint lodged at Kumbharwada police station, the incident occurred when he was taking a friend to Jamnabai Hospital after the latter complained of chest pain early Friday.Sheikh stated that he and another friend, Munaf Jilani, were on their way to the hospital when two men — Sarfaraz Diwan and Wahab Abalkhan — spotted them and alerted Pathan. Pathan then reached the spot, leading to a confrontation.Pathan allegedly fired at Sheikh during the altercation. Sheikh and his companions managed to escape without injury.Police detained four men, including Pathan, in connection with the firing. Residents told police that the group had been creating a nuisance in the area for several months. Further investigation is underway.
