Kanpur: In a bid to promote local culinary heritage and encourage entrepreneurship, the Uttar Pradesh govt has identified Samosa, Laddu and Makhan Malai as the flagship products for Kanpur Nagar under its One District One Product (ODOP) scheme. Entrepreneurs setting up manufacturing, service or business units related to these products will be eligible for bank loans and margin money assistance.Deputy Commissioner of Industries, District Industries Promotion and Entrepreneurship Development Centre, Kanpur Nagar, Anjanish Pratap Singh, said that under the scheme, financial assistance would be provided for establishing new units linked to the identified products.He said that for projects costing up to Rs 25 lakh, applicants would be eligible for 25% margin money assistance, subject to a maximum of Rs 6.25 lakh. For projects costing more than Rs 25 lakh and up to Rs 50 lakh, margin money assistance of Rs 6.25 lakh or 20% of the project cost, whichever is higher, will be provided.Applicants wishing to avail themselves of the scheme’s benefits must apply online through the MSME department portal. The minimum age for applicants is 18 years, while there is no mandatory minimum educational qualification.
