Lucknow: The Sports Authority of India (SAI), Lucknow, is expected to receive a major infrastructure boost under the Khelo India Scheme-2026-31, with projects including an additional hockey turf, a modern weightlifting hall, a swimming pool(COE) and a 200-bed hostel.SAI Lucknow has also proposed the development of Sports Training Centres (STCs) in Bareilly, Raebareli and Varanasi.Talking to TOI, regional sports director Atma Prakash said, “Of the nine components of the revamped Khelo India Scheme, three are dedicated to infrastructure development and upgradation. So, it is very much expected that NCOE Lucknow may get more projects. In addition, Khelo India leagues and regional leagues will give athletes more exposure.”“Khelo India Utkrisht Vidyalayas and Khelo India Feeder Schools shall be established and assisted in talent and coach development. A National Coach Accreditation Board shall be established for the development of coaches and to take care of their career progression,” he said.He further added that SAI Lucknow has also proposed an additional hockey turf, a modern weightlifting hall, a swimming pool(COE) and a 200-bed hostel for the National Centre of Excellence (NCOE), Lucknow. SAI Lucknow has also proposed the development of Sports Training Centres (STCs) in Bareilly, Raebareli and Varanasi. Additionally, the opening of new STCs in the region is also under consideration under the revamped Khelo India Scheme.
