Mandya: Union ministers Mansukh Mandaviya and HD Kumaraswamy Saturday laid the foundation for a Rs 14-crore multi-purpose indoor sports complex in Mandya under the Centre’s Khelo India scheme. Kumaraswamy represents Mandya in Lok Sabha.The facility will come up on the campus of University of Agricultural Sciences at VC Farm in Mandya. After bhoomi pooja for the project, the ministers were welcomed with a massive garland made of jaggery, a speciality of the district.Mandaviya said Khelo India is a national programme to revive sports culture at the grassroots level and help transform India into a leading sporting nation. Following the programme, electric vehicles were distributed to 388 persons with disabilities.
