Gandhinagar: The state govt on Sunday sanctioned Rs 1,100 crore for several development projects in the tribal districts of Panchmahal and Dahod. An official statement said that chief minister Bhupendra Patel laid the foundation stones and inaugurated 112 projects worth Rs 732 crore in Panchmahal district and over 1,200 projects worth Rs 367 crore in Dahod district.The CM inaugurated a lift irrigation pipeline project costing Rs 406 crore to deliver Panam reservoir water to 130 ponds in 79 villages of Shehra, Godhra, Kalol, and Ghoghamba in Panchmahal district. As a result of this project, approximately 86,000 hectares will receive irrigation facilities. Water from the Panam reservoir will be lifted from a height of 236 feet and distributed through a 205-kilometre-long pipeline.The CM said at the event that govt so far implemented 11 lift irrigation schemes to provide irrigation facilities to 2.23 lakh acres of land at a cost of Rs 3,160 crore. He added that govt made an allocation of Rs 485 crore in the 2026-27 budget for lift irrigation to provide irrigation facilities in tribal areas.Patel also laid the foundation stones and inaugurated projects for health, education, road networks, and water facilities in Panchmahal and Dahod districts.
