Ramgarh: Ration card holders exchanged heated words with a public district system (PDS) dealer in Chainagada under Patratu block of the district on Sunday after many of them complained of being provided rotten rice in their monthly ration.Beneficiaries complained of foul smell from rice bags once the distribution began on Sunday and refused to collect their ration. Stating they would wait for replacement stock before collecting their monthly entitlement, several beneficiaries expressed their dissatisfaction on being provided poor-quality foodgrains.A protest subsequently led to heated exchange with PDS dealer Dwarika Prasad. Denying his role, Prasad said he was distributing the stocks that were supplied to him and claimed several dealers are provided rotten and foul-smelling food grains from the govt godown in Patratu. “The foodgrains are not weighed before the dealers,” Prasad claimed.Ramgarh district supply officer Nisha Singh said, “An enquiry will be conducted to ascertain under what circumstances were rotten rice bags supplied to the dealer.”
