Bokaro: A police team from the district has arrested two men from Agra in Uttar Pradesh for duping a Gomia woman of Rs 4.5 lakh by keeping her under digital arrest earlier this year. The accused were identified as Ravi Kumar (23) and Hrithik Khushwaha (21), both residents of Agra. Two phones were seized from their possession, police said on Monday.DSP headquarters Pawan Kumar said Pushplata Tripathi filed a complaint with the cyber police station alleging that cyber fraudsters contacted her on March 13. Posing as officers of the Anti-Terrorism Squad of Maharashtra Police, the fraudsters told her that Rs 300 crore was illegally transferred from Pakistan to her husband’s bank account. Alleging that her husband had received Rs 16 lakh as a commission for facilitating the transfer, they put Pushplata under digital arrest and made her pay up Rs 4.5 lakh in a series of transactions.A team formed by SP Nathu Singh Meena analysed technical evidence and financial transactions, which led them to the accused in Agra. “Technical and human intelligence inputs were used to trace the suspects outside the state,” DSP Kumar said.
