Hyderabad: In response to the BRS MLAs’ demand for a house committee on illegal mining, chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Sunday proposed the formation of a house committee to investigate alleged land scams by BRS leaders involving misuse of the Dharani portal. He alleged that BRS MLA Harish Rao, along with his relatives, grabbed hundreds of acres by misusing Dharani and blackmailing landowners.“I am ready to order a house committee to probe the land scam in which Harish Rao’s brother, uncle, and brother-in-law got hundreds of acres of land in Balanagar mandal of Mahabubnagar transferred in their names. Is Harish Rao ready to face the probe?” he asked. Revanth further said that BRS MLAs Harish Rao and KT Rama Rao, along with BJP’s K Venkata Ramana Reddy, who had earlier questioned why the govt was not accepting the BRS demand for a house committee on illegal mining, should give their consent for a house committee on land scams. The chief minister said he would order a house committee either if Harish Rao agrees to it or if the speaker directs it. “If Harish Rao is honest and KTR believes in his honesty, they should accept a house committee and cooperate,” he added.Taking a dig at Ramana Reddy, Revanth said the BJP still has no answer on when the probe into Kaleshwaram will be completed, and that the party only offers suggestions while evading responsibility. “Back then, they said that within 48 hours of demanding a CBI inquiry, they would arrest KCR, but even after eight months, nothing has happened. Now they are asking for a house committee on illegal mining. First, tell us the status of the Kaleshwaram inquiry,” he said. After the CM proposed a house committee on the issue, several MLAs also urged the speaker to constitute the panel, claiming they too were victims of land scams by BRS leaders. “They threatened company owners and got thousands of acres of land transferred. A house committee should be formed. See how scared they are,” said Kadiyam Srihari.Similarly, Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender said there were several land scams during the BRS regime. “The govt must definitely order a house committee. There were many such scams. In fact, they took away our land, and KTR handed it over to a company. We have records, and I can submit them. We couldn’t do anything back then and remained silent. They grabbed my father’s hard-earned property,” he alleged. He added that since the chief minister has clearly spoken about the land scam in Balanagar, a house committee should be formed.Meanwhile, MLA Naini Rajender Reddy alleged that land worth Rs 200 crore was grabbed by BRS leaders. “The govt should demolish BRS offices and take over the land,” he added.
