Varanasi: In protest against the military action by America and Israel against Iran, a silent fast and dharna was organised on Saturday at Ambedkar Park, Kachahri, on the call of Sajha Sanskriti Manch, Varanasi. Social-cultural organisations and citizens of the city participated in the programme.They criticised the unilateral military intervention and political pressure against Venezuela and stated that threats such as seizing Greenland, controlling the Panama Canal, making Canada the “51st state” of America, and turning Gaza into an “American Riviera” reflect America’s undemocratic and authoritarian policies.They also said that American pressure on India, such as the demand to stop Russian oil imports, threats of tariffs in trade agreements, and the claim of stopping the India-Pakistan war by threatening 200 percent tariffs, is part of a chain of imperialist pressure. tnn
