Hazaribag: Once known for its clean roads and picturesque surroundings, Hazaribag is fast acquiring the dubious distinction of being a “city of potholes,” with residents alleging that almost every major road has now turned into a hazard, particularly amid the monsoon season. The situation triggered a protest on Wednesday, with statehood movement activist Sanjar Malik carrying the Tricolour and placards while sitting beside pothole-ridden stretches at various locations across the city to draw the district administration’s attention to the issue.Malik alleged that the city’s road network has deteriorated to such an extent that travelling has become unsafe.Assistant municipal commissioner Anil Pandey told TOI, “We will start repairing roads across the city soon. The Main Road will also be repaired at the earliest.”
