The baby is undergoing treatment at SNMMCH

Dhanbad: Deputy commissioner Aditya Ranjan on Wednesday directed officials to trace the biological parents of a newborn girl found abandoned in bushes near Huchuktand village under Barwadda police station limits and identify those responsible for leaving her there.The infant was rescued on July 27. Barwadda police subsequently informed the district child protection officer (DCPO) and the child welfare committee (CWC).CWC directed police to produce the baby before the committee and admit her to Shaheed Nirmal Mahto Medical College and Hospital (SNMMCH) for treatment. She is currently undergoing treatment in the hospital’s intensive care unit under the supervision of specialist doctors.Ranjan asked the hospital authorities to ensure round-the-clock monitoring of the infant.The district child protection office has deployed personnel from the Child Helpline, specialised adoption agency and district child protection unit (DCPU) on a roster basis to care for the baby during her hospital stay.“The local police and DCPU have been directed to trace the newborn’s biological parents and identify those who abandoned her. The administration will ensure her safety, rehabilitation and future welfare,” Ranjan said.
