Hyderabad: Rajya Sabha MP and National BC welfare association president R Krishnaiah on Tuesday demanded that the state govt immediately release Rs 8,000 crore in fee reimbursement dues pending for the past two years. He alleged that the state govt was planning to completely abandon the fee reimbursement scheme, a move that would adversely affect several lakh BC, SC and ST students across the state. He was speaking at a protest rally from Bahsheerbagh to Ambedkar statue, organised to demand the immediate release of the pending reimbursement amount.Addressing the gathering, Krishnaiah criticised the CM, accusing him of playing with the lives of students from poor and marginalised communities by failing to allocate adequate funds for the scheme. “The CM has repeatedly claimed that there was no budget for scholarships and fee reimbursement. Every scheme receives budgetary support, so how could there be no allocation for students’ scholarships and fee reimburesement?” he asked.
