Ranchi: Police on Tuesday busted an alleged motorcycle theft gang and arrested eight people, recovering eight stolen bikes from their possession.Ranchi SP Paras Rana said on Wednesday that two bike-borne men tried to break through a barricade and flee during a vehicle-checking drive near Dhurwa police station on Tuesday. The duo was, however, apprehended.“During the investigation, the vehicle details were checked and it was found that the bikes had been stolen. The accused also revealed their links with a motorcycle theft gang,” Rana said.The SP said the gang allegedly stole motorcycles from weekly markets in the city and sold them in rural areas after changing their registration numbers.“Based on their disclosures, raids were conducted at several locations, leading to the arrest of six more gang members. Eight motorcycles were recovered from their possession,” he added.The arrested accused were identified as Bharat Baitha, 26, Sunil Karmali, 22, Rohit Oraon, 22, Rohit Kumar Munda, 28, Pradeep Oraon, 25, Sanjay Ganjhu, 22, Suraj Munda, 29, and Sumit Oraon, 29. They are residents of Latehar, Chatra and Ranchi districts.
