The main accused were taken to the illegal firecracker factory site to reconstruct the events that led to the explosion

Ahmedabad: One more man succumbed to burn injuries caused by a blast at a firecracker factory in the Ramol area of the city on Saturday, taking the death toll to 10. A total of four patients are still under treatment at Civil Hospital and LG Hospital.According to Civil Hospital sources, Govind Damor, 48, died at 2.15am on Monday. He had over 95% burn injuries and was on life support system for the past couple of days, according to treating doctors. He was a native of Dahod district, they added. While eight deaths were recorded in LG Hospital following the incident, one death took place at Civil Hospital on Saturday. Two more patients admitted at Civil Hospital have 20% and 40% burn injuries, said officials.A senior fire officer had confirmed that the firecracker factory operated solely based on a self-declaration submitted to the Ramol police station. Under current state norms, facilities under 500 sq m are exempt from mandatory fire NOCs and require only a self-declaration to operate.Police ruled out an electrical short circuit as the cause, noting the premises lacked a power connection. They are now probing two theories: an accidental spark caused by metal friction, or a discarded cigarette caused the fire.
