Ahmedabad: For the second consecutive day on Monday, teams from the Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES) inspected 152 units for fire safety compliance and illegal firecracker manufacturing. The premises checked included factories, industries, warehouses and godowns.Fourteen units were sealed in the Central Zone. Fourteen units were inspected in the South West Zone, and operations halted at three. No firecrackers were found at 10 units. In the North West Zone, seven units were inspected and two were found making firecrackers.In the West Zone, 14 premises were checked. Five were issued notices for lack of documentary proof and given three days to submit these. Their operations will remain suspended until then.Of the 14 places inspected in the East Zone, one manufacturing unit was razed. Two other units, whose construction appeared to be unauthorised, were asked to submit proof within three days. The units will remain closed until then.Eighteen premises were checked in the South Zone and four were sealed. In the North Zone, 37 units were inspected and one was asked to submit construction-related proof. Out of the remaining 14 units selling firecrackers, the documents of 12 are being verified, until which their operations will remain suspended.
