The TET is a mandatory qualification for teachers of Classes I to VII under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009.

Panaji: With more than 5,000 candidates set to appear for the Goa Teacher Eligibility Test (GTET) on July 21 and 22, the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has asked school heads and managements to relieve teachers from duty and encourage them to take the test.

“Every institution should take pride in having GTET-qualified teachers, as it reflects its commitment to quality education, professional excellence, and the continuous professional development of its teaching fraternity. Success in the GTET is not merely a statutory requirement but a recognition of a teacher’s competence, subject knowledge, and pedagogical skills. It also reinforces the institution’s commitment to providing quality education to its students,” the board said.

It recommended that teachers be relieved sufficiently in advance so they can report to their examination centres on time. The TET is a mandatory qualification for teachers of Classes I to VII under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009.
