Srinagar, Mar 13: Former Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Rashmi Ranjan Swain has been appointed the first Chairman of the Odisha Uniformed Services Staff Selection Commission (OUSSSC).
A 1991-batch IPS officer from Odisha, Swain retired as DGP of Jammu and Kashmir in 2024. A native of Rourkela, he had a distinguished career spanning some of J&K’s most sensitive postings — serving as SSP in Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Poonch and Ramban districts. He also held key roles in the J&K Vigilance agency and served as Special DG CID.
Swain is known for his firm stance against terrorism and was credited with significantly disrupting terror funding networks in Jammu and Kashmir during his tenure.
