Mangaluru: Puttur Town police conducted a route march Monday to instil confidence among the public and strengthen the sense of security amid uneasy calm following an incident involving a technical problem with a lamination machine and damage to a document.Referring to the recent clash in Puttur, police said they had already registered a suo motu case and issued notices to those concerned. They dismissed rumours that the case was being treated lightly.“Such claims are far from the truth. In several cases in the past, notices have been issued without considering caste, religion or political influence. Anyone wishing to discuss the matter may approach the police and hold an open discussion,” police said.Police said most shops would remain closed during the festival as a customary practice. However, adequate security arrangements had been made to prevent anyone from forcibly shutting shops and commercial establishments, officials said. For Eid Milad security, one ASP, one DSP, eight PSIs, 10 ASis and 50 police personnel have been deployed within the Puttur town police station limits. The deployment also includes five Karnataka State Reserve Police platoons, three district armed reserve platoons and one special action force platoon.
