Mysuru: Union minister and JD(S) state president HD Kumaraswamy directed party legislators to launch a “coordinated attack” on the Congress govt during the forthcoming legislature session, focusing on drought, farmers’ issues, alleged corruption, and irregularities in recruitment and welfare schemes.At a JD(S) legislature party meeting Sunday, Kumaraswamy accused the govt of failing to effectively tackle the drought situation and directed MLAs to strongly raise the issue of inadequate relief to farmers.He also asked legislators to oppose the proposed Bidadi Township project, alleging that it was aimed at “looting” fertile agricultural land. He claimed thousands of acres could be lost to the project.He dared Congress functionaries to order an investigation into allegations that he received a “kickback” from a real estate developer, insisting that neither he nor his father and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda could be bought.He also directed MLAs to raise the NICE Road issue, alleging land acquired from farmers for roads was being used for real estate purposes and that several farmers were yet to receive compensation. Referring to recent high court observations, he alleged that toll was being collected illegally.All JD(S) legislators, except Chamundeshwari MLA GT Devegowda, attended the meeting. Kumaraswamy sarcastically described him as a “senior leader”.
