Bhubaneswar: City police took barely 12 hours to crack a major case involving an 18-wheeler goods carrier stolen on Aug 4. The crime was reported on Saturday, four days after the vehicle was stolen.Acting on the complaint, police formed a dedicated team to probe. “Through CCTV analysis, technical investigation and field verification, the stolen vehicle was traced and recovered in 12 hours,” police said. The truck was found behind at Bada Raghunathpur.Four persons, identified as Manoj Kumar Pattanayak (34), Kabindra Pradhan (37), Satyaban Subuddhi (26) and Biswajit Routray (37), were arrested in this connection and were remanded in judicial custody.Police discovered that the accused had dismantled the vehicle, removing 10 tyres with wheel assemblies. Three accused were caught red-handed while dismantling, and tools used in the crime were seized. On their disclosure, police recovered the stolen tyres from another accused, Biswajit.
