Gurgaon: The main access in Sector 9A, connecting ESI Hospital to GMDA’s main pumping station, has now become unmotorable, leaving residents negotiating a bumpy stretch and posing a serious risk of accidents for two-wheeler riders and cyclists.They said MCG laid the 900m sewer line in the area in Sept last year. However, even after the work was completed, the agency failed to restore the road properly.Suraj Bhola, general secretary of the Sector 9A RWA, said the road serves as one of the sector’s main entry points and carries considerable traffic throughout the day.“For nearly a year, residents have been waiting for proper restoration, but the issue has remained stuck between different contractors and MCG. Earlier, we were assured that the work would be taken up separately following the resurfacing of sector roads. Then they said a water pipeline needed to be laid, then a crisis in the Middle East was causing a bitumen supply issue, and now they are planning some drainage. There seems to be no end to the excuses from the civic body, while residents continue to suffer,” Bhola said.The ongoing monsoon season has further battered the road. Residents said cars can still negotiate the uneven surface, albeit uncomfortably, but those travelling on two-wheelers face a greater risk of losing balance.“After rains, the condition of the road becomes worse. The public should not be made to suffer because of poor planning and execution failure,” said Manbir Singh, a resident.Meanwhile, a senior MCG official said, “I will direct the officials to carry out the necessary repairs on priority.”
