YAMUNANAGAR: A 50-year-old property dealer was killed in a broad daylight attack on Santpura Gurdwara Sahib Road in Haryana’s Yamunanagar, triggering panic in the busy locality.The victim, identified as Shiv Kumar, a resident of Bhagwangarh village in the Buria area of the district, succumbed to severe head injuries after being attacked by an unidentified youth, who fled the scene on a motorcycle.According to police, Shiv Kumar had just stepped out of his car and was walking when a motorcycle-borne assailant approached from behind and allegedly struck him on the head with a brick. The impact caused him to collapse on the road, bleeding profusely.Bystanders immediately alerted the Dial-112 emergency service and rushed the injured man to the Civil Hospital. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.Soon after the incident, senior police officials, including Yamunanagar superintendent of police (SP) Kamal Deep Goyal and a deputy superintendent of police (DSP), reached the spot along with a forensic team to collect evidence. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation. CCTV footage from cameras installed in the surrounding area is being examined to identify and trace the accused.Family members of the deceased said Shiv Kumar had no known personal enmity with anyone, leaving the motive behind the attack unclear. Police are probing all possible angles, including personal rivalry, a planned conspiracy, or any other motive.Eyewitnesses said the attack happened so suddenly that no one had a chance to apprehend the assailant before he fled. The incident triggered panic in the area.Yamunanagar SP Kamal Deep Goyal has directed officers to expedite the investigation. He said significant evidence had been collected from the crime scene, and efforts were underway to identify the accused through CCTV footage and other forensic leads. He added that the exact motive behind the murder would become clear as the investigation progressed.
