FARIDABAD: Out of sight, out of mind. That may have been what 28-year-old teacher Sandhya Sharma, a mother of two, hoped when she changed both her school and residence after accusing Amit of molestation.But police say the 21-year-old never let go.Instead, investigators claim, Amit spent nearly two months planning her murder, bought a knife specifically for the attack, and waited for the right opportunity.When he finally confronted Sandhya at her new school on Monday in Faridabad, police allege, he stabbed her more than 27 times in a frenzied assault, continuing even after the knife bent.According to investigators, Amit had initially planned to attack Sandhya while she was travelling to or from school but abandoned the idea fearing he would be caught. He then allegedly decided to enter the school itself.On Monday morning, he reached the private school in Sikrona village, called Sandhya out of her classroom by invoking her husband Vicky’s name, grabbed her by the hair as she stepped outside and repeatedly stabbed her in the neck and chest, killing her on the spot.Police said Amit had feelings for Sandhya Sharma, but she did not reciprocate.She had earlier lodged a molestation complaint against him, after which he apologised.Investigators said he harboured resentment after she changed both her workplace and residence.Police arrested Amit, a resident of Kot village, within two hours of the attack.A court has remanded him to three days’ police custody.“The accused was so enraged that he continued attacking even after the knife bent,” a senior police officer said. Police have seized the murder weapon and are trying to recover Amit’s motorcycle and the clothes he allegedly wore during the attack.The attack was captured on the school’s CCTV cameras. Police said Amit also threatened a school staff member who tried to intervene.Sandhya’s husband, Vicky Gurjar, said stricter police action after the earlier molestation complaint could have prevented the killing.“If the police had acted strictly then, Sandhya might have been alive today,” he said.Sandhya is survived by her husband and two children, a seven-year-old son and a five-year-old daughter.Police said Amit, the youngest of three brothers, is unemployed and earns a living by rearing buffaloes and selling milk.(With agency inputs)
