Surat: The district education officer (DEO) has ordered an inquiry after a ostensible “suicide note” was found with a 14-year-old boy, who alleged that he was beaten by his school principal and a teacher.The matter came to light when the student’s parents took him for medical treatment for injuries, where doctors were informed about the alleged assault.According to reports, the boy was allegedly beaten on the morning of March 27 at a school in the City Light area. Disturbed by the incident, he reportedly wanted to take his own life later in the evening. However, his sister noticed his distress, spoke to him, and found a suicide note addressed to their parents.Written in Hindi, the note alleged that he had been subjected to corporal punishment by teachers for the past year and was threatened with complaints to his parents. He also urged his family to verify the claims with his friends.DEO Bhagirath Parmar said a three-member committee has been constituted to probe the allegations. “We will review CCTV footage of the past four months and speak to his friends and other students to verify the claims,” he said, adding that the student attended school on Monday.Officials will also interact with the family to ascertain if any other factors may have contributed to the incident.
