Surat: A 20-year-old embroidery worker was stabbed to death by his neighbour at Shriram Nagar Society in Amroli on Sunday night after an argument with a couple of neighbours.According to police, the victim, Mahendra Rajput (20), had an altercation with a neighbour who runs a panipuri cart. During the quarrel, another neighbour, Soyeb Hazarika (25), intervened. When Hazarika allegedly began abusing him, Rajput asked him to leave the spot. Hazarika then left but returned with a sharp-edged weapon and stabbed Rajput multiple times. When Rajput’s brother tried to intervene, the accused fled. Rajput was rushed to Jeevanjyot Hospital on a two-wheeler. Doctors there advised shifting him to a larger facility, after which he was taken to SMIMER Hospital in an ambulance. He was declared dead on arrival there. Rajput was from Gonda district in Uttar Pradesh, while Hazarika is from Nagaon district in Assam. Police have arrested Hazarika and begun an investigation.
