Udhagamandalam: A prison warder died by suicide at his parents’ grave in the Kanthal in Ooty on Wednesday night.The deceased has been identified as A Richardson, 31, of Ooty. He served as a grade-II warder at the Ooty prison. He had married 18 months ago and had a child. However, he had been living separately from his wife because of a family dispute. Despite mediation attempts by relatives, the couple remained estranged. Richardson was reportedly depressed and struggling with isolation.Officials said work-related stress had also affected him, and he had been irregular in attending duty for the past two months. On Wednesday, Richardson went to the cemetery where his parents were buried and consumed poison.Passersby found him and alerted authorities. Police recovered the body and sent it to Ooty Government Hospital for a postmortem. A case of suspicious death has been registered, and further investigation is on.
