Patna: Patliputra University (PPU) has completed the first round of undergraduate (UG) admissions under its four-year choice-based credit system (CBCS) regular programme in arts, science and commerce streams for the 2026–30 academic session, with 40,459 students allotted seats across its constituent, affiliated and newly established degree colleges.According to PPU dean of students’ welfare (DSW) Rajeev Ranjan, the first merit list has been released for admission to 26 constituent colleges, two govt colleges, 53 affiliated colleges and 16 newly established Rajkiya degree colleges. The second merit list will be published on July 2, he said.Of the total 40,459 admissions in the first list, 25,375 students have been admitted to constituent colleges, indicating a strong preference for these institutions. Among these, the College of Commerce, Arts and Science, Patna recorded the highest intake with 2,012 admissions, followed by ANS College, Barh (1,555), AN College, Patna (1,219), BD College, Patna (1,230), TPS College, Patna (674), JD Women’s College, Patna (878), Arvind Mahila College, Patna (404) and Ganga Devi Mahila College, Patna (297), the DSW said.In contrast, affiliated colleges accounted for 13,579 admissions despite their larger number. The 16 newly established Rajkiya degree colleges at the block level in Patna and Nalanda districts reported a modest 681 admissions, while two govt colleges recorded 824, he added.The university has around 1.25 lakh seats in its undergraduate Part-I programme this year, indicating that a significant number of seats will be filled in the next lists.With the second merit list due on July 2, the admission process is expected to gain pace as thousands of remaining seats are allocated across colleges under the PPU jurisdiction, the DSW said.
