Bettiah: Five people, including two police personnel, were injured in a violent clash between two groups at Jolaha Toli under Ramnagar police station area of West Champaran district on Sunday. Two of the injured are reported to be serious and have been referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Bettiah, for advanced treatment.According to police, the violence erupted following a dispute between two groups, prompting a team to rush to the spot. However, the situation escalated as people from both sides allegedly resorted to stone-pelting, leaving five injured, including two policemen. A heavy police force has since been deployed in the area, and drone surveillance is being used to monitor the situation.Ramnagar SDPO Ragini Kumari said, “We received information about a clash between two groups in Jolaha Toli. A police team reached the spot and tried to pacify the crowd. During this, stone-pelting broke out between the two sides, injuring five people, including two cops. Additional forces were sent to bring the situation under control. Those detained are being interrogated and the cause of the dispute is being probed. Action will be taken against the guilty.”Dr D S Arya, in-charge of Ramnagar Community Health Centre (CHC), said, “Five injured persons, including two cops, were admitted. Two were in critical condition and have been referred to GMCH.”Police said security has been intensified in the area and the situation is under close watch to prevent any fresh flare-up.
