Patna: A 40-year-old man was allegedly murdered by his younger brother over a family dispute at Manshahi Nawada village under Mushari police station in Muzaffarpur district on Sunday morning. The deceased has been identified as Santosh Mahato.According to police, Santosh and his younger brother, Ashok Mahato, got into an argument at their home. As the altercation escalated, Ashok allegedly picked up a grinding stone and struck Santosh on the head. The blow caused a severe injury, leading to his death on the spot.Following the incident, the accused fled. Family members and locals rushed to the house after hearing the commotion and alerted police. A team from Mushari police station reached the spot and sent the body to Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) for post-mortem. During the investigation, police detained the accused from the village and initiated legal proceedings.Sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) East II, Manoj Kumar Singh, said the murder took place after a dispute between the two brothers and confirmed that the victim died due to a serious head injury.“The accused has been taken into custody. Police are investigating all aspects of the case, and statements of the victim’s family will be recorded. No written complaint has been received yet. The reason for the dispute is still not known,” he added.
