Mangaluru: A minor girl, who went missing after leaving her home on May 7, stating she was going to Mangaluru for work, has been traced by police.Dakshina Kannada SP Arun K said that following a complaint by her family, a case was initially registered on May 11, under Section 137(2) of the BNS.During the course of the investigation, police located the missing girl on July 22. Based on her statement that she was lured and subjected to sexual assault by Dhanush,18, a resident of Kadaba, police invoked additional charges, including Section 64(2)(m) of the BNS, and Sections 5(l) and 6 of the Pocso Act.The accused was arrested on July 22, 2026, and is currently being interrogated, with further legal proceedings under way, the SP said.
