Udupi: Manipal police have arrested the fourth accused in an NDPS case involving the sale of ganja and LSD. The accused, Mohammed Ajmal, 26, from Malappuram district in Kerala and currently residing in a Manipal apartment, had been absconding.Police said Ajmal was arrested for allegedly selling ganja near Manipal Syndicate Circle recently. They seized 2,084 grams of ganja worth about Rs 1 lakh from his possession. He was produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody.
Police also detained five persons to whom he allegedly supplied ganja. It was confirmed that they consumed the substance. Separate cases were registered against them at Manipal police station, and investigation is under way.A case under Sections 8(c), 20(b) and 22(b) of the NDPS Act was earlier registered on credible information received on Aug 16, 2025, stating that ganja was being sold from a room on the road leading to Narasinga Temple, Eshwar Nagar, Herga village.Acting on the tip-off, the inspector and his team raided the premises and found two persons in possession of substances suspected to be ganja. They identified themselves as Afshin and Shivanidhi Acharya and allegedly admitted that they were selling ganja and LSD for personal gain.Another accused, Manish, 34, son of Manian, from Kasaragod, Kerala, and residing in an Udupi apartment, was arrested on Aug 17, 2025 and produced before the court.
