Jaipur: City police have increased security for a hotelier who has received extortion threats from gangsters believed to be operating out of Haryana and Punjab. The threats, allegedly linked to the Bambiha and Kaushal Chaudhary gangs, have warned of targeting hotels owned by the businessman in neighbouring states, sparking a coordinated police response in Rajasthan.Security has been tightened at both the Jaipur hotels owened by the businessman, with police patrols, PCR units, and plainclothes officers deployed outside the properties. Additional security has also been posted outside the hotelier’s residence in the city.Jaipur crime branch has begun collecting intelligence on known local contacts of the two gangs, officials said Tuesday. The threat follows a previous extortion attempt in Neemrana in Sept last year, where gangsters fired several rounds outside a hotel owned by the same businessman. tnn
