Jaipur: Police Tuesday arrested the fourth accused from Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, in connection with the murder of an elderly couple who lived alone in Bikaner, a crime committed during a robbery earlier this month.The accused, identified as Vijay Bansal, was part of the gang, which killed 67-year-old Gopal Verma and 60-year-old Nirmala Verma at their home in Mukta Prasad Nagar last week. His son, Rohit Bansal, was arrested earlier in the same case. Police said Vijay Bansal was one of the men hired by the main accused to carry out the crime. Acting on the information provided by the arrested accused Rohit and Vijay, police recovered jewelry looted from the couple’s house. The recovery was made from their residence near Ghaziabad. The haul included nearly one kilogram of silver and about 400 grams of gold ornaments.Police officials said Gopal, a retired army officer, and his wife Nirmala lived alone in their house as their two sons worked with multinational companies in Noida and Canada. A couple who earlier lived as tenants in the house planned the robbery. Woman’s father, Karmaveer, hired two men from GhaziabadVijay and Rohit to carry out the robbery. Karmaveer and two others are still absconding.TNN
