T’puram: Cultural affairs minister Saji Cherian will inaugurate the first phase of the Prem Nazir Memorial Cultural Complex at 5pm on Wednesday. The complex is built in memory of the evergreen actor of Malayalam cinema at his hometown Chirayinkeezhu. The event will be presided over by MLA V Sasi, with MP Adoor Prakash as the chief guest. Alongside the inauguration, a photo exhibition titled “Nithyaharitham”, featuring timeless moments from Nazir’s films, will also be held. For the first phase of the memorial complex, which is expected to cost a total of Rs 5.4 crore, state cultural affairs department allocated Rs 1.32 crore, and Rs 1.58 crore was utilised from the asset development fund of Chirayinkeezhu MLA Sasi. Construction work for the second phase, costing Rs 2.5 crore, is under way. Director of cultural affairs department Divya S Iyer will deliver the welcome address. Film academy chairperson Resul Pookutty will give the introductory speech.
