Patna: The Patna civil court received yet another bomb threat on Thursday— third in a week and second within 24 hours—triggering fresh panic, halting judicial work, and adding to the growing frustration among lawyers. An email sent around 1am claimed that RDX had been planted on the premises, prompting an immediate evacuation and a multi-agency search that later found nothing suspicious.Official sources confirmed that around 1am, the District and Sessions Judge’s office received an email claiming that RDX was planted inside the court premises. Following the bomb threat notification, swift action was taken by the administration and police authorities. Judges, advocates, visitors, among others, were immediately evacuated, and all judicial proceedings were suspended, while the police, Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), and dog squad searched the premises.Town DSP Rajesh Ranjan confirmed that the investigation is under way and, as a precautionary measure, the court was temporarily closed while the search was under way to ensure the safety of judges, lawyers, staff, and visitors. “Nothing suspicious was found during the search by multiple agencies. An FIR was registered and the investigation is under way,” he said.“All five bomb threat emails, which were received since January 2026, came from the Outlook email service. The team is working to trace the sender and the people who are behind it. Raids are also going on based on some inputs in previous cases, but no arrests were made yet,” the DSP told this newspaper.Advocate Anshuman Singh said, “This is concerning. It is happening repeatedly. Lawyers are agitated. No work is being done. We woke up this morning and learned about the threat. The court is currently closed. We want the High Court to take cognizance of the series of bomb threat incidents.”A day earlier (on Feb 11), three civil courts each in Patna, Danapur, and Kishanganj had received bomb threats. The email stated: “At exactly 1pm, five bombs will explode in your court premises. Long live Pakistan and Kanimozhi!”
